What is the cancellation policy at Cloudrift Breakaways?

Cancellations within 48 hours of booking and at least 21 days before arrival qualify for a full refund. Cancellations 7-21 days before arrival are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations less than 7 days before arrival are non-refundable. Festive season and event bookings are strictly non-refundable.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Standard check-in is at 14:00 and check-out is at 11:00. Early arrival and late departure may be accommodated upon request, subject to availability and applicable fees.

Are pets allowed at Cloudrift?

Yes, pets are welcome with prior written approval. Full details including breed, size, and temperament must be disclosed at booking. Pets must remain in designated areas and may not be left unattended. The property is fenced except along the river boundary.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes, a refundable security deposit of R2,500 is required at booking. The deposit will be refunded within 48 hours after check-out if no damage is found.

How many guests can stay at each property?

The Luxury Villa accommodates up to 10 guests (8 adults max or 6 adults with 5 children). The Garden Cottage accommodates up to 6 guests (6 adults max or 4 adults with 4 children). The Boathouse Bungalow accommodates up to 4 guests (4 adults max or 2 adults with 3 children).

Is the swimming pool fenced?

The property features an open, unfenced swimming pool without a safety net. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times when near the pool area.

Can I launch a boat from the property?

Cloudrift does not have an on-site boat launch, but an exclusive arrangement with a nearby facility is available. A valid Skipper's License and Buoyancy Certificate are required. Launch fee is R250 per vessel (cash only), with hours from 08:00-15:00.

Yes, high-speed fibre WiFi is available throughout all properties at Cloudrift.

What happens during power outages?

The Luxury Villa and Garden Cottage are equipped with UPS battery systems for essential outlets. Emergency lighting and rechargeable torches are provided. A backup generator is available for extended outages.

Are food delivery services available?

Due to the rural location, only Uber Eats services the area. Mr D and Checkers Sixty60 are unavailable. Special delivery arrangements may be coordinated with management prior to arrival.

Bringing your boat to Cloudrift

Cloudrift sits right on the Vaal, which makes it a natural base for a weekend on the water. Here is what to know before you arrive with a boat in tow.

Launching

Cloudrift arranges launching through a trusted facility nearby. The fee is R250 per vessel, cash only, with launching between 08:00 and 15:00.

What you need

To launch, you will need a valid skipper's license and a current buoyancy certificate for the vessel. Have these ready so the morning starts smoothly.

On the water

The Vaal is calm and scenic, ideal for cruising, water sports, or simply drifting with a line in the water. Winter fishing is surprisingly good, and the early mornings are still and glassy.

Back at the estate

After a day out, the Boathouse Bungalow is perched right over the water with a balcony made for sundowners. The jetty is the perfect place to watch the sun set before firing up the braai.

A note on the peace

Sound carries easily across the water, so we keep noise considerate out of respect for neighbouring guests and residents. It is part of what keeps Cloudrift so tranquil.
